With fraud and data theft being such serious issues with devastating consequences it is important to keep all of your personal data as safe as you can. We share our top tips on keeping your data safe:
- Passwords! Ensure your passwords are different for all your online log-ins and not easy to guess. A password needs to have a mixture of numbers and letters and NEVER use something easy to guess e.g. your name, dog’s name or Password123!
- Suspicious emails! If you receive an email that seems odd or suspicious then don’t open it and never click on the links.
- Phone calls! Never give out any information on the phone and especially your bank details.
- Store paperwork securely! If you have confidential documents, make sure they are locked in a cabinet or storage room so no one unauthorised can access the paperwork.
- Dispose of old phones, iPads, laptops and computers securely by taking it to a shredding expert who can shred your hard drives to a secure size.
- Shred your paperwork securely! You can either use your own shredder – ensure it is a secure cross cut level and NOT a strip cut shredder. Or alternatively use a shredding service like ourselves to shred your confidential paperwork for you.
It is always a good idea to back up your data so that if your data is stolen then you have a copy to access again.

If you want to dispose securely of your confidential paperwork we can shred your paperwork for you at our premises in Neston, Wirral. You can even watch your paperwork being shredded – you just need to book in a drop-off slot and specify you want to watch, then you can watch your paperwork being shredded right in front of you!
