It’s really important to us at UShred that all the paper we shred can be recycled. Otherwise tonnes of paper each year would end up in landfill and not only is that bad for the environment, it wouldn’t be very secure either. We want our paper shredding service to be environmentally-friendly as well as secure.
We firstly ensure that before we shred the paper work, our team removes everything that can’t go through as some items in the shredded paper can impact the recycling process after us. We ensure we remove all plastic wallets, treasury tags, plastic and all other non-paper based items. (Apart from staples as the shredded paper gets run under a magnet to remove that).
Once those items are removed, the shredding service continues and paper is all shredded, baled and palletised and we send it to local recycling firms (local to us at Wirral/Cheshire/Merseyside reduces the carbon footprint of the shredded paper by not being driven across the country).
From there it is sent to a paper mill where the shredded paper is then pulped down and made back into a recycled paper based product such as blue hand roll. It also helps with the security of the shredded paper as it is handled by qualified and certified organisations to ensure the security of the paper.
